Favorite Madison Area Wedding Venues

We’ve been in the Wedding Photography World for almost 16 years and in that time, we’ve seen over 400 weddings. I’m not going to say we’re old but, in an industry where businesses don’t typically make it much past year three, we’re certainly not young. (OK, we’re old.) As you can imagine, we’ve seen and worked at A LOT of venues. Not Surprisingly, we enjoy some more than others and this blog post is about our favorites around Madison.

At first glance, these places don’t really have all that much in common outside of their general locations. There’s a barn venue, a renovated downtown industrial space and everything in between. The main things that really grab our attention with all of these places are light and/or really good photo opportunities. Good light and good photo ops make our job easier, especially with our clean and bright editing style.

The Eloise

The Eloise was designed and purpose built for weddings and it shows.  The getting ready spaces are as nice and usable as any we’ve come across and the venue’s ability to transition seamlessly from outdoor to indoor ceremony spaces based on the weather is invaluable.  The interior is the definition of clean with white walls and ceilings and neutral floors.  It is a blank canvas for every couple that gets married there.  It also doesn’t hurt that The Eloise is located just outside of Mount Horeb.  Our Studio has been there since Larissa went full time in 2015 and we know the area incredibly well.

Harvest Moon Pond

Harvest Moon Pond, formerly known as The Barn at Harvest Moon Pond, is the only barn venue on our list.  The yellow and orange wood of most barn venues combined with really warm lighting tends to make our jobs pretty difficult when we’re trying to edit.  HMP is different though.  The main reception space photographs soooo clean.  It’s probably one of the easier venues we work at when it comes to editing photos.  Add in the picture-perfect grounds with multiple ceremony options and HMP is hard to beat.

The Tinsmith

The Tinsmith is such an interesting and unique building.  The Solarium at the front is the star but the whole building is full of so much character.  The exposed trusses and ductwork are a reminder of what the building used to be, but the renovation pulls everything into the present.  The tinsmith truly is capable of standing on it’s own with little to no decoration necessary.  With it’s location in the middle of the city, there’s also no shortage of photo opportunities.

The Madison Club

The Madison Club is another venue that is very capable of standing on it’s own without the need to bring in much for decoration.  The finishes and décor throughout ooze sophistication and class and with it’s location right in the heart of the city, photo opportunities are endless.  The layout of the building provides separation from one part of the day to the next and an excellent experience for guests.

Overture Center

The Overture Center is the ultimate city venue.  Everything about it is grand and beautiful regardless of where you choose to have your celebration within the building.  The massive windows all around and views of State Street and the Capitol building are sure to have your guests buzzing as soon as they enter.
